Majestically carving through scenic Georgian Bay, the MS Chi-Cheemaun is the largest passenger/car vessel
on the Great Lakes.
Completing the 30-mile route between Tobermory and South Baymouth in less
than two hours, the ‘Big Canoe’, as it is known in native Ojibwa,
can transport 638 passengers and 143 cars.
Passengers can purchase light meals, snacks and refreshments or browse
for souvenirs and crafts in the Boatique Gift Shop. While on board, passengers
can learn about the unique region through Parks Canada experts. Small playground
equipment, toys and video games are available for young travellers. MS Chi-Cheemaun is now a smoke-free environment.
Since 1974, the Chi-Cheemaun has safely carried passengers between ports.
So impressive in size, power and passenger comforts, this ship helped usher
in the modern era of ferry service.
